The Career and Employability Service provides expert help from qualified and experienced professionals to help you plan your career from day one of your UCO journey, continuing for 3 years following graduation. The service offers impartial careers information, advice and guidance.
Our focus is on supporting you with employability and career decision making, guiding you through a process of personal reflection to help you identify the most suitable path for you. Career decision making is as much about lifestyle aspiration as it is about deciding your professional journey.
The service is provided by a highly qualified guidance and practitioner with substantial experience and contact across a range of industries, which means that you will get the very best up-to-date information to help you make great choices.

If you can’t attend an appointment, please contact reception to let them know, so that another student can take advantage of the appointment slot.
A careers interview will usually last for an hour. At your careers interview, you will usually get an action plan to remind you of what was discussed and for you to complete the actions agreed, after your interview.

Our careers adviser is committed to ensuring that you get the best careers information, advice and guidance possible. You may not know what to do once you graduate, have any idea of which career you want to pursue or know how to go about making these decisions. At your careers appointment, you will go through exactly what you would find helpful to discuss. Appointments normally last for 60 minutes and at the start of your appointment, you can discuss what you’d find most useful to talk about.

We can certainly show you where to look for a job and support you to develop effective job searching skills, but we can’t find you a job. This is something that we would work on together so that you build the skills you need to be able to do what you want in the future.
