HNC Quantity Surveying for England (HTQ)

This course is ideal for those thinking about starting a career or developing their current career in quantity surveying.

On successful completion, you will have an industry-recognised qualification which will support your future career progress. You will:
• Develop your knowledge of the quantity surveying practice
• Recognise the use of Building Information Modelling in Quantity Surveying
• Acquire skills in material take-off and estimation
• Advance your communication skills in presentations and project report writing
• Gain understanding of legal frameworks in quantity surveying
• Develop knowledge of Tendering and Procurement for construction projects
This course will give you a firm foundation to progress to an undergraduate degree in any of the following areas: Quantity Surveying, Building Surveying, Construction Project Management, Project Management or Property and Real Estate Management. Students can also progress onto the HND Quantity Surveying course.
You will be assessed on 8 units spread evenly over the period of the programme:
This course is designed for those wishing to work in quantity surveying, tendering, contracts, cost estimation and forecasting in the built environment. There are planned site visits and field trips on this course to expose students to typical civil engineering construction projects.
Live construction projects are used as case studies and scenarios for assessments. Integrated into the course are guest speakers from professional industry bodies and companies.
The course can lead to roles such as: Quantity Surveyor or Building Surveyor, Cost Estimator, Manager or Planner, Real Estate Manager, or Contracts Manager.
Lectures, Seminars and Industry Workshops, Tutorials, Practical Field Surveys, Virtual / Remote Learning, Site Visits and Field Trips.
Assessments shall include course work, written assignments, project reports, presentations, professional discussions, material take-offs and portfolios of evidence.
In 2021, a £9m Construction Centre – was completed to enhance the design and delivery of our comprehensive suit of construction courses from L2 to L5.
