HNC Art & Design (Fashion & Textiles)
Our HNC in Fashion and Textiles will equip you with the skills you need to bring your ideas and your creativity to life. This course has been designed to respond to the changing world of fashion, provide emerging designers with the range of transferable skills and experience needed to build a successful career in this exciting and fast-paced industry.
You will be able to place your design skills within a working context and prepare for entering the professional world by creating an online presence. You will also learn promotional and networking tools as part of the course content.
The course has been developed to meet the needs of industry and the curriculum has been planned to reflect working practices. Contact with employers is a key part of this, including live briefs, industry seminars and conferences.
Students are encouraged to seek placement work to enhance their employability and are supported by a dedicated HE Careers & Graduate Outcomes Officer.
Fashion/Textile Designer, Garment Technologist, Fashion Stylist, Fashion Buyer
Teaching consists of lectures and seminars, workshops and tutorials. These are designed to build autonomous and independent learning facilitating development of academic skills, experiences and techniques.
Live briefs and visits enable students to engage with industry and employers. Assessment is through coursework and portfolio building.
The Creative courses at UCO all benefit from access to our Mac and PC Suites. The department has a laser cutter, 3D printers, large format digital printers, motion capture suits and VR technology to support a wide range of digital processes. In addition, Fashion, Graphic Design and Illustration students have the use of screen-printing facilities and presses in our specialist printmaking studio.
