Level 5 students on the Foundation Degree Health and Social Care took part in a guest lecture delivered by Qualified Social Worker, Jo Dillon, on Tuesday, 31 January 2017.

Students were treated to an in-depth discussion with case studies and examples provided as well as taking part in activities aligned to Multi Disciplinary Teams. The group looked at the supporting legislation and the emergence of the Multi Disciplinary Team distinct way of working. This event was arranged to enhance the teaching and learning and bring to life the subject of Multi Disciplinary Teams and Jo was able to demonstrate expert knowledge from her experiences from working within practice.

Students also took part in a question and answer session with Jo to explore future employability pathways and insight into the industry of social work.

Lecturer Caroline Jones explained, "This was a fantastic opportunity for students to hear first-hand what it is really like to work in the social work sector and to consider employment options which they may wish to aspire to in the future."

After the event, student Nazreen Akhtar added "We can now see how Multi Disciplinary Teams work in practice. It was so useful hearing about Jo’s professional experience and case studies, this really brought the social work profession to life".
